TANNING TIPS
~
For the healthiest tan, start with the healthiest skin ~
Waxing, pedicures and facials should be done at least one day
prior to your tanning session.
Shave, then lightly and evenly exfoliate with an exfoliating
scrub the day before your tan. This will rid the skin of dead
skin cells enabling the tan to last longer.
No makeup, perfumes, lotions or deodorant. These can affect
the absorption of DHA (the sunless tanning ingredient) and acts
as a barrier to the spray and stops the process from working
properly.
Wear Dark, loose fitting clothing and undergarments to your
tanning appointment. The cosmetic bronzer may rub off on clothing.
It will wash out of most fabrics but may stain nylons, lycra
and silks.
Bring dark, loose fitting clothing and flip-flops to wear afterwards.
In the summer time a sundress is perfect to slip on after your
tan. In the winter time, remove tight fitting socks several
hours prior to appointment.
If it’s raining on the day of your appointment, make sure to
bring an umbrella as you will not want to get wet for up to
8-12 hours after your tanning session.
AFTER
TANNING TIPS
~
For the most beautiful, longest lasting tan develop a healthy
skin regimen ~
Wait at least 8-12 hours before showering, exercising or getting
wet.
Avoid perspiring, and be careful when washing hands and other
activities as this may cause tan to streak until your first
post tan shower.
Use a body wash or shower gel during your post-tan shower. Avoid
harsh soaps and in particular, avoid all Dove products and dial
soap. Also avoid the use of products containing alpha hydroxy
acids that will increase exfoliation and accelerate the fading
of your tan.
If you have had an application with bronzer, you will see color
washing off in the first time you shower. This is just the surface
color that was applied. Your skin will continue to tan as the
self-tan reaction occurs on your skin.
Moisturize twice a day with alcohol free lotion. Hydrated skin
makes your tan last longer and slows down the process of natural
skin exfoliation. Alcohol based products are drying to the skin
and can cause tan to fade quicker and unevenly.
Avoid long hot showers/baths and exfoliating the skin. Pat your
skin dry after bathing or showering. Excessive friction of the
skin may fade your tan prematurely.
When swimming or soaking in hot tub use a waterproof sun screen
to help slow down the process of the tan fading.
